Bodhost VPS Scammers | Ultrahosting Server Scammers
This article is not to only talk bad or good about hosting companies but show my experience and evidences agains the 2 hosting companies(Bodhost and Ultrahosting).
Bodhost.co.uk or bodhost.com VPS SCAMMERS!
2 Years with thid VPS company I found several problems such:
- downtime(from 10minutes to 12 hours many times from 2008/2009)
- allocate memory problem( the biggest issue with the server)
Bodhost VPS are all overloaded!! They sell VPS and don’t give you the resources you paid for!!
Spoke with all the support on chat:
- John Rodrick
- Scoth
- Sebastian
- Alan
- Alec
- Jeet N
- etc
All the conversations were about the same:
- Why my VPS is down?
- Why my server is out of memory if I have all services down?
They never, never admit that it was a problem of hardware. Always blaming us saying we had a bugged script overloading mysql or something like… How can you run a PHP script if apache is down? How can you overload mysql if the service is down??
They destroy your data!
Be carefull if you have files on their server. Backup all files every 12 hours… if you can….

My history over with bodhost after I run apt-get update then the entire VPS crashed and didn’t start anymore. I’ve contacted them again on the chat to ask to bring back the server. My surprise was that they said the VPS was corrupted because I executed the command apt-get which I wasn’t allowed???!!!

Everybody knows that VPS share resources, but if we had a minimum of 500MB by contract why we still couldn’t get it if all our services weren’t running?
Result: all databases missing , webs and emails lost!!! Backups were corruped and VPS completly useless. My surprise was that when I access the SSH the initial problem with the apt-get was there!!!! So what was the point the keep our server down for 3 days instead of giving us a completely new one???
Ultrahosting.com server SCAMMERS!
After that no more discussing or time wasting and we moved to another provider Ultrahosting.com in Canada. Why we decided for that company? The only reason was that they had less complaining on forums on the net.
This time we decide to go for a dedicated server as our main problem was the memory on the VPS. Also that a 12 hours backup system would avoid this kind of problem to not lose any more data.
1 month latter: so far so good, no memory problems no down time.
2 months latter: server becomes unstable, SSH very slown, running top I could see that I had 1600Mb free of memory from my 2 Gb contracted. Websites going slown and all services including emails….
by contacting the support received the response:

The issue regarding slow ssh was likely caused by the network adaptor being set to autonegotiate rather than full-duplex.
I have made the change and ssh should be much better now.

a few hours latter server down!!! After contact the support I was told the hard disk was corrupted and need a server re-build. In total after 2 days they build the new server and once I finally can access it surprise again!!! No files… look their response:

After 18 hours which was suppose to be 5 minutes, surprise again!

Whenever I try to mount your original HD via /olddata, I get an error message saying the filesystem isn’t being recognized. This is unfortunately an indication that the HD is either dead or won’t be in a functional state that anything can be copied off it. I sincerely apologize for any inconveniences. I’ll understand if you’d cancel your server, however if you should decide to keep your server, I’ll place a request that we provide you an Enterprise certified HD. These are HDs provided by Dell which go through intensive testing in order to verify that they are suitable for their Dell poweredge servers. These aren’t typically the drives that we install in our dedicated servers, however we always keep a few of them in stock and I could make this happen for you.

Can you believe?!!! Again all my files destroyed!!!
At least this time I had recent backups and could go quick sign up for a new server with another provider and restore it from my backups.
A good suggestion for my experience with those scammer companies are:
- Never pay for 1 year in advance, pay monthly which gives you time to cancel and get another provider if you’re not happy
- do 12 hours backup rotate for all your files(web, databases, passwords, server settings and imap folders)
If you want to add your experience from another company please send me the information.
This article is to open your eyes and stop those companies scamming people and causing damage to their companies. If you have a server with any of the companies above I suggest you move to another provider as soon as possible…
